DEEPA SLOKAM

(This sloka is to be recited while lighting lamp)

शुभं करोति कल्याणमारोग्यं धनसंपदा ।
शत्रुबुद्धिविनाशाय दीपज्योतिर्नमोऽस्तुते ॥
दीपज्योतिः परब्रह्म दीपज्योतिर्जनार्दनः ।
दीपो हरतु मे पापं दीपज्योतिर्नमोऽस्तुते ॥

சுபம்  கரோதி  கல்யாணம்  ஆரோக்யம்  தனஸம்பத |
சத்ரு  புத்தி  வினாசாய  தீபஜோதி  நமோஸ்துதே ||
தீப  ஜோதி   பரம் ப்ருஹ்ம  தீபோ  ஜோதி ஜனார்தன: |
தீபோ ஹரது மே பாபம்  தீப ஜோதிர் நமோ(அ)ஸ்துதே ||

Shatru Buddhi Vinashaya Dipa Jyotir Namostute

Deepa jyothi Parabrahma Deepajyothi Janardhanaha |

Deepo haratu Me Paapam Deepa-jyothir Namostute ||

Meaning:

I salute the One who is the lamplight that brings auspiciousness; prosperity, good health, abundance of wealth, and the destruction of the intellect’s enemy.

I salute the Lord, the sustainer of the creation, in the form of this light. I salute this light (the Lord), may He destroy afflictions resulting from my omissions and commissions.
